keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The February NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the February edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. From annual farming updates in Luxemburg to the On Broadway District in Green Bay, this month was another busy one where my staff and I witnessed first-hand the great work being done throughout NEW. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Heat Up Your Future: My staff attended the 2024 Heat Up Your Future Skills Competition event held at the UA400 in Kaukauna. For the competition, 18 student teams were required to complete a pipe stove based on specific design requirements. The projects were judged on correct dimensions, welding quality, and design. Congratulations to each of the participating teams, and thank you to the UA400 for hosting such a great event! Best Practices: Peninsula Pride Farms held its annual meeting in Luxemburg on February 13. During the meeting, Peninsula Pride Farms President, Duane Ducat, presented a recap of 2023 events. The producer-led group of 54 farms and 16 corporate members also welcomed guest speakers who shared innovation and best practices to building soil health. State of the Broadway District: This month, my staff attended the State of the Broadway District held at Gather in Green Bay. During the event, the On Broadway team discussed the great work they do through volunteer events and advocacy for the Broadway district. They also provided updates on major projects like the Green Bay Public Market and the Shipyard Redevelopment Project. Annual Updates: On February 6, more than 100 farmers, agronomists, manure haulers and agency representatives attended the annual CAFO update in Green Bay led by the UW Madison Division of Extension and the DNR. During the meeting, DNR staff highlighted tips for writing quality Nutrient Management Plans, plans for emergency spills, as well as other topics. Bellin Health Expansion: My staff also attended the ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Bellin Health Surgery and Specialty Center located in Ashwaubenon. The new center will welcome patients starting on March 4 and will provide services in orthopedics, rheumatology, podiatry, and more. Congratulations to the entire Bellin team on their new state-of-the-art center! N.E.W Credit Union: On February 27, my staff traveled to Oconto Falls to attend the 62nd N.E.W.
