The Young Democrats of South Carolina are proud to announce our 2024 State Convention which will be held in Columbia and West Columbia, SC.

The Convention will be held on Friday, April 12 and Saturday, April 13.

We will kick off the convention on Friday evening we with a Welcome Reception for Young Dems, Alumni, and Friends of the Young Dems in order to network and mingle at the Don and Carol Fowler Center, the headquarters of the South Carolina Democratic Party. The Fowler Center is at 1929 Gadsden Street in Columbia.

Saturday will be the General Session portion of the Convention. We will hear from candidates running for YDSC board positions and then vote for those positions. We will also hear from candidates running for public office and special speakers. There will be a variety of trainings and panel discussions as well. The General Session and Awards Luncheon on Saturday will be at the South Carolina Education Association headquarters at 2999 Sunset Boulevard in West Columbia.

At the end of the day, at our Awards Luncheon we will announce our awardees and the new YDSC board members for the 2024-26 term. We'll also have a post-convention social at a venue to be determined soon.

Registration is open now for $30, and a "Catalyst" registration for two is available for $55. For those only attending the Alumni Welcome Reception on April 12, a registration is also available for $40.

A limited room block is available at the Hilton Garden Inn on 110 McSwain Drive in West Columbia. It is limited due to a high number of pre-reservations for The Masters tournament in Augusta. We are also encouraging our members and attendees to come together and book available Airbnbs if possible.

Each year at the YDSC Annual Convention we have our awards ceremony. We are currently accepting awards nominations from YDSC members. Please submit your award nominations here. Award nominations are due by March 30, 2024. Young Democrats of South Carolina Officer Elections

Every two years, in the even-numbered years, at the YDSC Annual Convention we elect our state officers.  Those officers are President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and two National Committee Members. You must be a member of a chartered chapter of YDSC to run for a position and you must be under the age of 36 to run. Amendments to the YDSC Platform, Bylaws, Constitution, Endorsements Policy, and Platform

Every year at the YDSC Annual Convention members of YDSC are able to submit amendments to the YDSC Platform, Bylaws, Constitution, Endorsements Policy, and Platform. Amendments must be submitted to the YDSC Rules Committee. Amendments to the YDSC Platform or the Endorsements Policy must be sent to the relevant committees. YDSC Chapter and Caucus Chartering

Every two years, in the even-numbered years, at the YDSC Annual Convention we charter our caucuses.  If you are interested in starting a Caucus in time to charter for Convention please reach out to YDSC First Vice President China Whitmire at [email protected]. Every year at the YDSC Annual Convention we charter our YDSC Chapters. Only members of Chartered Chapters may vote in business items at the convention, run for officer positions, and vote in the elections.
