Phew! Jack, we reached our February goal. That was pretty stressful for me. I didn't think we would make it but I never should have doubted the support from the Daily Kos community.

It's critical that Daily Kos reaches our monthly fundraising goals because donations from our community are the largest source of income to power our work. The problem, not just for Daily Kos, but almost every single news organization, is that Big Tech continues to suck up more and more of the advertising revenue that once supported the operations of most news outlets.

Big Tech's profit margins swell while many news outlets are slashing budgets, laying off staff, or shutting down altogether. The worst part is that the survival of these news organizations is crucial to our communities.

Some news outlets are trying to find alternative ways to bring in more revenue. Most of those options, like paywalls, restrict access to the news for far too many. This is detrimental to our communities—especially as we are approaching such an important election.

When you make a donation to Daily Kos, it means we can continue to make our content free and accessible to everyone. We realize that not everyone can afford to make a donation. That also means that they wouldn't be able to access our content if we locked it up behind a paywall.

When you make a donation to Daily Kos, it means that everyone, regardless of their ability to pay, has access to the news and to our actions. Please support independent, progressive news for everyone with a donation of $5 or more.
