The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is proposing a rule that would mandate all new cars to continuously monitor their drivers and be able to deactivate the car if it deems it necessary. This is your last chance to oppose the first phase of this regulation.

The Biden administration claims this regulation is needed to detect and prevent drunk and distracted driving. While every death due to drunk driving is a completely avoidable tragedy, the reality is the government is a sledgehammer, not a precision instrument.

The kinds of technologies the NHTSA is considering implementing will open a can of worms that will put “Big Brother” in your car and negatively impact your daily life. Under the proposed regulation:


- Cars will become more expensive than they already are
- Imperfections in the technology will lead to false positives that will stop your car from starting - a nuisance at best and dangerous at at worse if it occurs during a natural disaster or medical emergency
- Your personal and digital privacy will be at risk from the monitoring technology
- You will be presumed guilty which is why you must be watched throughout your drive
