Last night, John Oliver – hilariously as always – renewed his offer to Clarence Thomas of $1 million a year and a new $2.4 million motor coach (similar to a gift given Thomas by a billionaire).
His reminder came hours before the Supreme Court ruled that states cannot remove Trump's name from the ballot – and as he noted that Clarence Thomas has not recused himself from deciding whether Trump will stand trial on Jan 6 charges despite his wife's support of efforts to overturn the election.
Over a thousand PCCC members have joined Oliver -- adding an additional $2.5 million in "pledges" as we work to keep the pressure on Thomas and this right-wing Court! Here's how:
(To be clear, joining Oliver’s pledge is more about advancing this media narrative than actually giving money to Clarence Thomas.)
Here’s why this matters. Oliver’s amazing video was already fading from public attention, but we've been updating the media on the ever-growing number of Americans joining his call – and the amount they are pledging for Clarence Thomas to retire. John Oliver's renewal of his offer and a new round of "pledges" to join him from PCCC members can increase the buzz and news surrounding Oliver’s amazing video calling out Court corruption.
As Oliver said, the Court has more society-changing cases on the docket this year. And the American people's confidence in our democracy itself has already been shaken by this Court’s political rulings that consistently go against the will of the people — such as striking down abortion rights, voting rights protections, common-sense state and local gun regulations, and federal efforts to combat climate change.
Take action to keep this Supreme Court corruption in the news. And then please forward this email to others!
Thanks for helping to hold this corrupt Supreme Court accountable.
