Uncle Vic
Talk about perspective!
Last week we celebrated my Uncle Vic’s 94th birthday at Tupelo Honey.
Uncle Victor's had several careers: retail as a teen, then he joined his father's Iron and Steel company. When the steel industry collapsed, he started over and became a successful commercial realtor.
Today, he continues to be an amazing role model, showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, he volunteers as a business mentor through Knoxville SCORE -- coming up with creative solutions for his clients.
If that wasn’t enough, I have to mention that Uncle Vic served in the U.S. Army, and was Mayor of Trotwood and Centerville, Ohio.
He has also always been into sports, from being named Zeta Beta Tau's best athlete when he graduated from OSU in 1952, to winning multiple gold medals in the 2017 Tennessee Senior Olympics. He is simply an inspiration.
This week, as I reflect on his more than 9 decades, I feel fortunate to have someone with his wisdom, perspective and guidance in my life.
He is a wonderful husband and great grandfather, and remains healthy and sharp as ever. His birthday wisdom -- words we can all live by -- "No matter your problems, just keep going. Things get better."
