This morning, as I took a moment to pause amidst the whirlwind of work, I felt that I had to reach out to you directly, John. It's not often I find a quiet moment to reflect, but today, it's crucial I share with you what's on my heart and what’s on my mind. I know it’s Monday, but by the end of this email I need you just as fired up and ready to go as I am!
As you can see from the headline, our movement is facing a challenge like we’ve never seen before. Not only do we have two opponents in this race, but a Republican funded super PAC with VERY deep pockets has unveiled an enormous $100 million war chest to spend on racist attack ads filled with baseless lies, aimed squarely at undoing the progress we've fought so hard to achieve.
The Republican billionaires funding this $100 million attack include the right-wing mega donor who flew Justice Alito on luxury vacations in exchange for our reproductive freedom and the billionaire who bankrolled Republicans’ efforts to block student debt relief from 40 million Americans.
Here’s something you really need to know: We only have 50 DAYS LEFT until the election. This isn’t just any election, though. Out of all the progressive candidates they are targeting, our primary is the first one up! This means our race is the very first test - the first big battle against this massive challenge. WE MUST HOLD THE LINE! This is where we stand firm, show our power, and prove that when we come together, no amount of money can push us aside. We have to make these next 50 days count like never before!
You might remember the last time they came after us, spending millions to try and stop our progress. Well, they're back at it again, but this time the stakes are even higher and they are ready to spend much more than they spent last time. They think they can drown out our voices with their money, but they're wrong. We’ve stood up to them before, and with you by my side, we can do it again. But I really need your help.
Let's prove to them, once again, that our movement cannot be beaten by big money. That we, together, are stronger than their millions. That we will continue to fight for what's right, with every ounce of strength we have, no matter the cost.
