Climbing into the cockpit of my Apache helicopter and strapping myself in was the greatest adrenaline rush of my life. (The second was announcing I was running for Congress.)
See, the Apache helicopters are basically airborne tanks. And our primary job as pilots was to provide cover for troops on the ground. So when I'd get the call to fly out, I'd race out to the Apache, put on my helmet, clip into my seat, and turn on the 48-foot rotor blades – all with the thought, "I'm going to protect my people."
And then off we'd fly.
That mentality, of being a protector, has never left me. And it's why I'm running for Congress – because I won't sit by when I see working families, veterans, women, LGBTQ+ folks, or anyone else who calls this country home being attacked.
But this time, instead of jumping into an Apache helicopter to protect my people, I'm jumping into the race to represent Pennsylvania's First Congressional District.
Of course, just like how nothing in the Army gets done alone, neither does running for office. It takes a whole team of people – but instead of co-pilots and platoons it's a campaign manager, volunteers, and yes, donors.
That's why, as much as I hate asking for money, I'm asking you to pitch in your first donation of $5 to this campaign. I'm committed to protecting the people of PA-01 in Congress, but I can only get there with your support.
