Just think about this for a second. The GOP holds the majority in the House, but they haven’t exactly gotten much done. (Literally – by the numbers, 2023 was the least productive Congress in modern history.)
After years of demanding increased border security, they could have delivered a win for their party by passing a bipartisan bill that came down from the Senate last month. But House Republicans declared the bill “dead on arrival.”
Why? Because Donald Trump told them he wanted to use challenges at the border to help himself win in November, of course.
Then there was the chance to pass much-needed foreign aid for our allies – an easy win, as large numbers of Democrats and Republicans had already come together to pass the package in the Senate. But extreme House Republicans and Speaker Johnson refused to even consider the package, and it failed.
Instead of focusing on helping the American people (which – friendly reminder – is literally our job!), House Republicans have been busy fighting amongst themselves and shooting down every opportunity to pass meaningful legislation. And then they complain about their lack of progress.
This House GOP is the most cynical, shameless, and dysfunctional group of “leaders” Congress has ever seen.
And we wonder why so many people are losing faith in government?!
Look – obviously, there are many places I disagree with my Republican colleagues. But we were elected to solve problems and get things done. The American people deserve elected officials who are going to put them first – not power, not politics, and certainly not the whims of Donald Trump.
The good news is that we have the power to change this.
In November, we have a chance to elect and re-elect Democrats who are committed to getting things done, and defeat the Republicans who are standing in the way of progress.
Click here to donate $5, $10, or whatever amount is meaningful to you to help me fight off my MAGA opponent, keep my seat in November, and work toward a Democratic majority.
Thanks so much for your support.
