Friend,
On Thursday, nearly 150 Republican lawmakers, including my opponent Rep. Jack Bergman, asked the Supreme Court to restrict access to the abortion drug mifepristone — citing a law from 1873.
Our granddaughters should not have to fight the same battles that their grandmothers already won.
The GOP brief referred to the 19th-century Comstock Act, a zombie law that conservatives want Donald Trump to enforce if he wins as a way to ban abortion nationwide without Congress.
Friend, it could be used to not only ban medication abortion, but by prohibiting shipments of medical supplies used in clinics, it could outright ban abortion procedures in all 50 states. Yes, even ones with laws that protect abortion.
We cannot afford to go backward. Please join my fight against Bergman's federal abortion ban.
Mifepristone has been used for over 20 years by over five million people. Commonly prescribed drugs like Penicillin, Tylenol, and Viagra have higher death rates than this abortion medication.
The GOP nonsense isn't based on science or safety; It's right-wing activism.
A contribution from you today of any amount can help Democrats regain the majority in Congress, get religion out of politics, advocate for judicial reform, and codify Roe into federal law.
Thank you.
