Kari Lake abandons hard-line abortion stance in desperate bid to win over voters in Arizona
Failed gubernatorial candidate and fervent Trump bootlicker Kari Lake pulled a nakedly political about face on abortion over the weekend, walking back praise for aggressive restrictions she previously championed in a move that reflected how much of a poisoned arrow the issue has become for the Republican Party. The MAGA blowhard, who aggressively advocated for a 6-week ban during her failed gubernatorial bid in 2021, now claims that the state's current 15-week ban is a "good law" that should be left alone. Democrats are having none of it. "Kari Lake will say anything to get elected, but her actions are clear," Democratic challenger Ruben Gallego's campaign said. "Arizonans won’t be fooled by her attempts to erase her record."

VIDEO OF THE DAY: Trump suffers surprise loss peppered with warning signs
Nikki Haley managed to knock off the disgraced ex-president in the Republican Party primary in Washington, DC, over the weekend, putting a temporary wrinkle in the con man's inevitable coronation plans. Trump's eventual victory in the race to top the ticket has never really been in doubt, and very few — if any — voters actually believe Haley could best the fraudster in her quest to wrest control of the party from the MAGA cult she helped usher into power in the first place, but the grifter's inability thus far to consolidate an overwhelming share of Republican primary voters suggests a sizeable chunk of the party is not at all excited about his attempted return to power, exposing a serious weakness for President Biden and the Democrats to exploit as we head into the general election.

Trump vows to push the world over the edge
Evergreen Collaborative: We’re running out of time to stop the climate crisis — but Donald Trump just vowed to “drill, baby, drill” and push the world into ecological catastrophe just so his Big Oil cronies can make a huge payday. Evergreen Collaborative is at the forefront of the fight to save the planet and put bold climate action at the top of America’s agenda. Can you chip in to make sure Trump’s dream never becomes our nightmare?
Vice President Kamala Harris says there must be an "immediate ceasefire" in Gaza
Harris called on Sunday for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza as she spoke in Selma, Alabama, on the anniversary of the civil rights march later known as "Bloody Sunday." Standing in front of the historic Edmund Pettus Bridge, Harris said, "Given the immense scale of suffering in Gaza, there must be an immediate ceasefire — for at least the next six weeks." She also delivered one of the sternest condemnations of Israel’s failure to allow humanitarian aid to citizens of the Gaza Strip from the White House so far, remarks that came after Israel’s military was widely criticized for opening fire as Palestinian civilians swarmed an aid truck carrying flour. At least 115 Palestinians were killed in the massacre and another 750 were wounded.

Exxon chief sparks huge uproar after blaming public for climate failures
Darren Woods, chief executive of oil giant ExxonMobil — one of THE largest contributors to planet-warming greenhouse gas emissions — sent a stadium-sized cloud of methane into the atmosphere over the weekend, noting that the world is currently off track to meet its net-zero emissions goal by 2050...and the public is largely to blame. Did you get that? It's your fault, Kevin. Sure, Exxon and the other global fossil fuel giants are raking in record profits and forging ahead with plans to expand their fossil-fuel-burning operations, but the real culprits in the ongoing climate-warming catastrophe are everyday people, because transitioning to clean energy might be too expensive to consumers. Climate critics weren't buying Woods' steaming pile of bullshit. Gernot Wagner, a climate economist at Columbia business school, rightly noted, "It’s like a drug lord blaming everyone but himself for drug problems." Naomi Oreskes, a Harvard historian of science, said, "The playbook is this: sell consumers a product that you know is dangerous, while publicly denying or downplaying those dangers. Then, when the dangers are no longer deniable, deny responsibility and blame the consumer."

Trump supporters target Black voters with faked AI images
Supporters of the disgraced ex-president have been creating and sharing dozens of fake, AI-generated images of Black voters purportedly backing Trump in a deeply cynical effort to encourage African Americans to vote Republican. When asked about his own involvement in the pathetic disinformation campaign, Florida talk radio clown Mark Kaye said with a straight face, "I'm not a photojournalist. I'm not out there taking pictures of what's really happening. I'm a storyteller." A storyteller, see!? He's not lying, willfully manipulating, or trying to con people into abandoning their own self-interest and joining the MAGA cult. He's just telling stories!

Republican Sen. Lisa Murkowski says she "could not vote" for GOP front-runner Donald Trump, stumps for Nikki Haley instead
Murkowski, one of just two Republican senators to publicly back Nikki Haley's longshot bid to topple Trump in the GOP primary, said she’s not prepared to vote for the serially indicted ex-president and urged voters not to give up on Haley, despite loads of evidence suggesting they largely have done just that. While the former South Carolina governor and erstwhile Trump ally did manage to pick up her first primary win of the season in Washington, DC, she's been handily defeated by the disgraced ex-president in every other contest so far and faces a serious, uphill battle on Super Tuesday.

Bombshell court decision has massive implications for Trump
No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen: Wow.
Supreme Court could decide today if Trump can be kicked off state ballots for insurrection
With a conservative-stacked bench, including three appointees seated by Trump himself, we aren't holding our breath for a prudent or just decision, but the nation's highest court could rule as early as today in a groundbreaking case about whether the serially indicted, disgraced ex-president can be kicked off state ballots over his efforts to steal the 2020 election and upend American democracy.
Democratic Rep. Ro Khanna says Israel must face "consequences" for "standing in the way" of US aid to Gaza
The California congressman went on CBS News' Face the Nation Sunday morning to discuss the ongoing crisis in the Gaza region and demanded Israel face “consequences” for blocking humanitarian aid to civilians inside the Gaza region amidst their brutal, five-month-long war with Hamas. Khanna then implored the White House to call for a long-term ceasefire between Hamas and Israel. Hours later, Vice President Kamala Harris did just that, calling for a six-week pause in order to move badly needed humanitarian aid into the decimated region where millions of Palestinian civilians are facing imminent starvation.
