Donald Trump Wins Caucuses in Michigan, Missouri and Idaho

National Review: Former president Donald Trump won the Missouri, Idaho, and Michigan Republican presidential caucuses on Saturday over rival Nikki Haley, the former governor of South Carolina. Trump won the Missouri caucus at 12:40 p.m. eastern time, according to the Associated Press’s call, soon after results began to come in. He was deemed victorious in Idaho at 6:58 p.m. eastern with about two-thirds of the results officially counted. The former president won all the delegates in Missouri and 85 percent of the Idaho caucus vote at the time of writing. Trump also won the Michigan Republican caucus Saturday with 98 percent of the vote, days after he easily won the Michigan primary over Haley (National Review). Simon Ateba: Trump wins the GOP presidential primary in Idaho, securing all 32 delegates. In a single day, Trump achieved what is known as the GOP caucus trifecta, decisively defeating Nikki Haley in Michigan, Missouri, and Idaho. He now has 244 delegates. Haley has 24 (X).

MSNBC Guests Call White Rural Voters a “threat to democracy”
Federalist: A pair of MSNBC panelists derided “white rural voters” as ignorant, conspiracy-driven rubes who present a “threat to democracy.” Journalist Paul Waldman and University of Maryland professor Thomas Schaller went on MSNBC Monday to promote their new book, “White Rural Rage: The Threat to American Democracy.” “We lay out the four-fold interconnected threat that white rural voters pose to the country,” said Schaller. “They’re the most racist, xenophobic, anti-immigrant, anti-gay geodemographic group in the country. Second, they’re the most conspiracist group,” Schaller continued. “QAnon support and subscribers, election denialism, Covid denialism and scientific skepticism, Obama birtherism. Third, anti-democratic sentiments,” Schaller added. “They don’t believe in an independent press, free speech. Schaller kept going. “Fourth,” he said, “they are most likely to excuse or justify violence as an acceptable alternative to peaceful public discourse” (Federalist). Libs of TikTok: UNREAL. MSNBC guest who’s a professor at University of Maryland says white rural voters are a threat to democracy and a threat to our country. Does University of Maryland teach this racism in their institution (X)?

NYT Poll of the Upcoming Election, State of the Nation is Disastrous for Biden
Daily Wire: A poll released over the weekend spells serious trouble for President Joe Biden heading into the 2024 general election. The overwhelming majority of respondents — 62% of men and 68% of women — said that the U.S. was headed in the “wrong direction” under Biden. If the 2024 presidential election were held today, 48% said that they would vote for former President Donald Trump while only 43% said that they would vote for Biden; 48% said that they believe that Trump will win while only 39% said that they believe Biden will win (Daily Wire). A majority of the respondents to the poll voted for Joe Biden over Donald Trump in the 2020 election 53 percent to 43 percent (Poll).

Walgreens, CVS Pharmacies to Sell Abortion Pill
Wall Street Journal: Pharmacy chains CVS and Walgreens will begin dispensing mifepristone, commonly known as the abortion pill, in coming weeks. The two chains said Friday they received certification to dispense the pills, following a regulatory shift last year to allow bricks-and-mortar pharmacies to offer the pill with a prescription. The companies said they would distribute the pill in a way consistent with state laws—meaning it won’t be offered in states that don’t allow legal access to abortion through 10 weeks—and will begin rolling out the pill in a handful of states. Both said they wouldn’t make mifepristone available via mail order (Wall Street Journal). Axios: President Biden called the move “an important milestone” in a statement Friday, saying mifepristone has been deemed safe and effective by the FDA for more than 20 years (Axios). Charlie Kirk: The real question is how many babies’ lives will be lost because of making the abortion pill this accessible? How many of these mothers would eventually come to realize that their baby is a blessing, not something to dispose of, if they just waited a week or two (X)?

Biden Calls Illegal Immigrants “Newcomers”
Fox News: Congressional representatives and conservative commentators mocked the Biden administration for referring to those illegally crossing the border as “newcomers,” arguing it is the latest of many euphemisms for illegal immigrants. In a fact sheet distributed by the White House press office to advocate for the bipartisan border agreement President Biden has endorsed, officials pointed out that the bill includes $1.4 billion “for cities and states who are providing critical services to newcomers” (Fox News). ABC: Sen. Chris Murphy is urging President Joe Biden and his fellow Democrats to “go on the offense” on immigration after a bipartisan border deal he helped negotiate was tanked by Republicans, led by former President Donald Trump, who called it insufficient. Murphy also lauded Biden for visiting the border last week, where Biden publicly urged Trump to drop his opposition to the border agreement, as polls show immigration remains top of mind for some Americans at the same time that Biden’s handling of it is widely disapproved of (ABC). RNC Research: Q: Why did it take so long for Biden to address the border crisis? Democrat Sen. Chris Murphy: He sent “comprehensive immigration and border reform” to Congress in his first week! Q: That was amnesty, “not a border security bill…” Murphy: Well yeah (X).

Reporter Believes Theft in America is Justified Because “America is a sticky-fingered nation built on stolen land”
Fox News: A new Washington Post report suggested that the crime problem in major American cities has grown into a “moral panic.” Post culture reporter Maura Judkis authored the piece in the paper’s Style section on Friday, with the headline “The zombie CVS, a late-capitalism horror story.” In it, Judkis noted how a Columbia Heights, D.C. CVS had been looted and shoplifted from so much that there was hardly anything of value on store shelves until it was shut down this week. Though, rather than reflect on the crime that has forced this store and stores in other major U.S. cities to close, the reporter delved how these crimes are being seized upon by conservatives trying to stoke fear about crime waves. The reporter continued, implying that there is ancestral guilt about stealing and colonization at play in this “moral panic.” Judkis wrote, “America is a sticky-fingered nation built on stolen land, and its current moral panic is about shoplifting. It’s not just a worry in Columbia Heights. All over the country, from sea to shining CVS, there are concerns about petty theft” (Fox News).

Houthi Rebels Sink British Cargo Vessel in Red Sea
Washington Post: A British cargo ship sank in the Red Sea after an attack by Houthi militants, taking some 21,000 metric tons of fertilizer down with it, posing a significant environmental risk to one of the world’s busiest waterways and the home of many coral reefs. The Rubymar was struck by an anti-ballistic missile fired by the Iranian-backed Houthis on Feb. 18 and sank early Saturday after “slowly taking on water” since the attack (Washington Post). Times of Israel: The Houthis have held Yemen’s capital, Sana’a, since 2014, expelling the government. It has fought a Saudi-led coalition since 2015 in a stalemated war. Since November, the rebels have repeatedly targeted ships in the Red Sea and surrounding waters over the Israel-Hamas war. Those vessels have included at least one with cargo bound for Iran, the Houthis’ main benefactor, and an aid ship later bound for Houthi-controlled territory (Times of Israel).

President Biden Announces New Aid for Gaza
Townhall: On Friday, President Joe Biden announced that his administration was sending humanitarian aid to Gaza, sort of. Not only are there concerns that such aid will be taken by Hamas, there was confusion as the president said that such aid was being sent to Ukraine, when he really meant Gaza. Many outlets let the mix-up go without informing their readers that the president was referring to one war zone when he meant another. The Hill, for instance, merely put Biden’s remarks in brackets. NBC News and CNN failed to include that quote in their coverage. CBS News cut off the quote just before Biden mistakenly said “Ukraine.” USA Today did mention the mistake, towards the very end of their article on the announcement. He failed to acknowledge that such aid has been stolen by Hamas terrorists in previous instances. There’s also been a focus on the death of civilians lined up to get food (Townhall). RNC Research: Biden announces the U.S. is “providing air drops of additional food and supplies” into Ukraine (X).

University of Florida Removes All DEI Roles
Axios: The University of Florida eliminated all positions focused on diversity, equity and inclusion and halted its DEI-related contracts on Friday. 13 full-time positions were terminated and 15 administrative appointments were ended for faculty members. The Florida state government has escalated a years-long effort to regulate how race and gender are addressed in its educational institutions. Earlier this year, Florida’s Board of Education announced a new rule banning public colleges from using federal funds for DEI programs, activities and policies. The University of Florida said terminating the DEI positions is to comply with a Florida Board of Governors’ regulation on prohibited expenditures (Axios). Christopher Rufo: University of Florida has fired all employees related to DEI. The conservative counter-revolution has begun (X).

Anheuser-Busch Lost Estimated Up to $1.4 Billion Due to Bud Light Boycotts
CNN: The world’s largest brewer may have lost as much as $1.4 billion in sales because of the backlash to its brief partnership with a transgender influencer to promote Bud Light beer. Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD) reported record revenues for 2023 Thursday but said its “full growth potential was constrained” by its US business, where sales were hurt by a boycott of Bud Light over a sponsored Instagram post with Dylan Mulvaney. In North America, organic revenue, seen as the best measure of operating performance, plunged $1.4 billion last year as beer sales by volume tumbled in the region, primarily due to a decline in Bud Light sales in the United States. Beer makes up the lion’s share of AB InBev’s revenue (CNN). Marina Medvin: Conservatives have a powerful voice when they’re willing and organized. The Bud Light boycott resulted in over $1 BILLION in lost sales (X).
