Williams Weekly
Dear Texans,
It was another busy week working on important issues facing our state, our nation, and the world. Rest assured, I am fighting each day to keep our communities safe and uphold the values of our district. Read below for an update on my work serving you.
Biden’s Photo-Op at the Border
Thursday, Joe Biden chased President Trump to the southern border for nothing more than a photo op. While President Trump and House Republicans have provided solution after solution to secure our nation, Joe Biden is only coming to the table after 3 years of silence to hide the fact that he supports open borders. I applaud President Trump for taking this crisis seriously and look forward to working with him on my legislation to secure our border.
Voted to Save America’s Future
I often say, there are two ways to vote in Congress, one to save your future, and one to save America’s future. I am proud to have voted to save America’s future by voting NO on yet another continuing resolution. We cannot keep kicking the can down the road. Our borders are not secure, our communities are overrun with crime, government spending is out of control, and Main Street is paying the price. It is time we do what we were sent here to do and get reckless spending under control!
Protecting America’s Energy Dominance
Over 90 percent of oil and natural gas extractors are small businesses, and yet again Biden has shown he puts the interests of American Small Businesses behind the interests of China, Ukraine, Russia, and other foreign countries. Biden’s woke clean energy agenda is unsustainable and unrealistic. We cannot allow the administration to continue to push this agenda at the expense of hard-working American families. That is why, as Chairman of the House Committee on Small Business, I wrote President Biden and Secretary Granholm to express my concern with this decision. Read my letter here.
The Biden Lies Continue
Joe Biden’s son, Hunter Biden, appeared before the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability and the House Committee on the Judiciary as part of the ongoing impeachment inquiry into President Biden. During his deposition, Hunter admitted to receiving millions of dollars from China and that he had his father join business phone calls. We will continue to follow the facts and evidence wherever they lead in order to hold the Biden family accountable for their clear influence peddling.
Small Business Committee
As Chairman, I led our committee in the passage of five pro-small business bills out of committee to be sent to the House floor. This includes legislation to promote business and agriculture in rural areas, and support service-disabled veteran owned businesses receiving federal contracts. See the entire slate of bills here.
In God we trust,
Roger Williams
