Friends --

Could President Trump and Interior Secretary David Bernhardt do a worse job of managing the coronavirus crisis? They actively encouraged people to flock to national parks -- directly contradicting recommendations from health and medical experts.

Will you join us in encouraging all Americans to refrain from crowding national parks during the coronavirus crisis?

Bernhardt announced that entrance fees to all parks would be waived during the crisis, encouraging visitors from near and far to pour into rural areas with few hospitals and scarce medical resources. This reckless move not only threatened the health of park visitors and staff but also put nearby residents in greater danger.

Case in point: More than 570,000 people in 11 Western states live in counties without hospitals -- including nearly 100,000 people over the age of 65, who are at higher risk from COVID-19. Doctors in the region say that discouraging tourism to the parks is critical to slowing the spread of the virus.

The Interior Department’s negligence is only one part of the Trump administration’s incompetent response to this national health crisis. But fortunately, millions of Americans are taking urgent action to end this crisis. Steps that everyone can take right now include:

-- Following guidelines from health and medical experts.
-- Complying with orders and recommendations from local officials.
-- Staying local. Don't travel to national parks but instead enjoy the outdoors and public lands in your area.
-- Practicing social distancing.

We encourage all Americans to follow health experts’ advice to stay home as much as possible to limit the spread of the virus.

Help us get the word out to all Americans. >>> [link removed]

Thank you for doing your part to end the coronavirus crisis.
