JOHN, the Great Lakes are a treasure not just for Michigan, but for the planet. That’s why it boggles my mind that my opponent would vote to allow drilling in our Great Lakes.

Doesn’t he realize that this is one of our country’s most precious natural resources? One that supplies drinking water to millions of people every year, attracts tourism and boosts our local economy, and is a lifeline to our environment and ecosystem.

I oppose drilling in our Great Lakes. Period. No exceptions.

Unlike my opponent, I will always stand up for our natural resources. Not many people know this about my record, but I was proud to have been the first prosecutor to go after sewage discharge into Lake St. Clair that were closing beaches and putting people at risk.

JOHN, protecting the Great Lakes has been the fight of my life. But our work is far from over. The Great Lakes face new daily threats, from climate change to invasive species.
