Detroit Action is a grassroots member-led, Black-led multigenerational organization that is training community members on the tools needed to support and give back to their communities.

Through direct action, voter registration, trainings, and civic engagement, Detroit Action is building working class power to challenge the root causes of poverty, and promote human dignity and development.

Detroit Action is also part of our nationwide ceasefire movement, part of the push for housing justice across Michigan in the Rent is Too Damn High coalition, and part of a new coalition to take on Michigan’s greedy energy utilities that keep cutting off our power.

This member-led organization is a leader on the Rent is Too Damn High campaign, which is building power among renters and unhoused people across the state of Michigan.

Detroit Action is also part of our nationwide ceasefire movement, speaking out for our shared humanity and against oppression everywhere. As they wrote in a statement of solidarity: Palestinians “face the daily threat of state violence—a similar fate that Black and Brown Americans face in Detroit and other cities that have become over-policed and under-resourced.”

A multigenerational group of Black and brown, low and no-income, homeless and housing-insecure Michiganders, Detroit Action is challenging the root cause of poverty and racism. They’re demanding inclusion and investment for all marginalized communities that have been left behind.
