In April 2024, World BEYOND War will be holding a weekly discussion
each of four weeks of World BEYOND War's award-winning book A Global Security System: An Alternative to War with World BEYOND War Education Director and lead author of the book Phill Gittins.
The
book, in its Fifth Edition, is a synthesis of existing wisdom on what
can be done instead of war, what a world beyond war could look like, how
to go about getting to it, and what changes are involved in
governments, in economics, in activism, in communications, in education,
in our cultures, and in our daily lives. The book is available at no
cost on the World BEYOND War website in PDF, ePub, Mobi, or audio, with both the PDF and a summary PDF version in many languages. The paperback is available for purchase but will be provided free to any registrant to this book club who wants it.
We'll let you know which parts of the book will be discussed each week along with the Zoom details to access the discussions.

Phill and a team of World BEYOND War staff and friends are working on
plans for a major revision to the book in 2024, and we want your input,
your feedback, your suggestions. What works, and what doesn't? What's
missing, and what's not needed? We'd like you to be our team of
consultants and help guide us beyond our own perspectives on a book that
is very familiar to us. Can you help?
When: For one hour on four Tuesdays, April 2, 9, 16, 23, 2024 at 14:00 UTC.
That's

About the Book:
AGSS is World BEYOND War’s blueprint for an alternative security system – one in which peace is pursued by peaceful means.
AGSS relies on three broad strategies for humanity to end war: 1) demilitarizing security, 2) managing conflicts without violence, and 3)
creating a culture of peace. These are the interrelated components of
our system: the frameworks, processes, tools and institutions necessary
for dismantling the war machine and replacing it with a peace system
that will provide a more assured common security. Strategies for
demilitarizing security are directed at reducing dependency on
militarism. Strategies for managing conflict without violence are
focused on reforming and/or establishing new institutions, tools and
processes for assuring security. Strategies for creating a culture of
peace are concerned with establishing social and cultural norms, values,
and principles necessary for sustaining a thriving peace system and the
means to spread it globally.

PSST. HERE'S A SECRET:
Don't tell anybody, but when we send out one of these emails, a book club often sells out, and we get complaints from those who didn't grab a spot in time. But, typically, as in this case, the book club has been available to join for months prior to the email. In fact, other book clubs for the coming months are ready to be joined right now. You can reserve your spot prior to any email, and with extra time to receive and read the book. To sign up for our March, April, May, June, or October book clubs right now, just visit:
