In recent weeks, we have seen the Democratic-led House take decisive action on everything from protecting Dreamers to reforming our gun safety laws to getting big money out of politics.
But in the Senate, Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has shamefully acted as a self-described “Grim Reaper,” allowing bill after bill to die in his legislative graveyard.
Even if we defeat President Trump next year, we will continue to face extreme partisan gridlock from Leader McConnell and the GOP if we don’t take back the Senate, too. We need to elect new Democrats, but we also need to defend every Senate seat—including right here in Illinois.
With a Democratic Senate majority, we can begin undoing the damage the Trump Administration has wrought and move forward with a progressive agenda for our country.
