Dear John,
Today we celebrate World Wildlife Day and the vast network of conservationists working together to secure a future for people, wildlife, and the planet we all share. For 108 years, San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance has partnered with hundreds of organizations worldwide to bring the most innovative projects to life, creating hope for our future and testing the limits of what is truly possible
The theme for this year’s celebration is “Connecting People and Planet: Exploring Digital Innovation in Wildlife Conservation.” At the San Diego Zoo and San Diego Zoo Safari Park, we embrace technology and innovation to discover the best practices in wildlife health and care. Our two leading zoos fuel conservation globally, and we apply what we learn here while working with hundreds of partners and communities around the world.
From Mini DenCams that are revealing important polar bear denning behaviors across the Arctic to testing deterrents that keep our local California mountain lion population safe and sustainable, technology is creating endless possibilities for conservation and opportunities to protect wildlife.
Three years ago today, we evolved our organization and became San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance. At our core, we want to inspire a passion for nature and share our love for wildlife and the ecosystems we rely on to thrive. Our global conservation efforts are only possible because of people like you, who walk alongside us and choose to be an ally for wildlife. We are grateful that you are a part of our conservation family and are on this journey with us to create a world where all life thrives.
Thank you for being our ally. Together we can save, protect, and care for the world’s wildlife.
Together for wildlife,
Paul A. Baribault President and Chief Executive Officer San Diego Zoo Wildlife Alliance
