Dear Friend,

Until a few days ago, a makeshift collection of wooden boards leaning against
one another was the closest thing Scar had to shelter.

While most of us were in our homes preparing for weeks of self-isolation with
our families, Scar languished outside, alone, a discarded couch cushion his only
bed.

Today—as they are every day—PETA's fieldworkers are on the road working to
ensure that every animal in the poverty-stricken North Carolina and Virginia
communities they serve has the veterinary care, food, and shelter that they
need.

Help us change the lives of more dogs like Scar by making a special gift today.
Even as little as $5 can help us provide a neglected dog with nutritious food
for a week.

PETA's fieldworkers hauled away the flimsy boards and the debris that surrounded
them and provided Scar with a sturdy PETA-built doghouse that will shelter him
during the wet spring weather and scorching summer days to come. They also
transported him to one of our mobile veterinary clinics, where he was neutered
free of charge to his indigent owner.

We can't slow down while animals need our help. In the last week alone, our team has sterilized 165 animals for low- or no
cost, responded to 187 emergency calls for assistance, and visited dozens of
dogs and cats in rural areas to make sure each has the food, water, and care
that they need and deserve.

The financial toll of the pandemic has already been massive, and judging from
PETA's work during past recessions and other crises, the need for these vital
services will only grow during the uncertain weeks and months ahead.

Please make a much-needed gift today to help keep our life-changing work for
animals going strong.

Thank you for your compassion and commitment to helping animals like Scar who
have no one else to help them.

Kind regards,
