Today, Michigan Republicans are holding not one but TWO presidential nominating conventions.

The Michigan Republican Party is in absolute chaos–the elected chair, Kristina Karamo, was deposed by the base, but she refused to step down, and a court LITERALLY had to tell her to stop calling herself the chair. Then, the other half of the party began to recognize Pete Hoekstra.

To the casual observer, this might be laughable, and it might seem absurd. But we’ve laughed at this kind of insanity before. In 2016. When Trump won Michigan.

The reality is all this chaos is generating excitement and turnout for the GOP. In last week’s primary, Trump received over 100,000 votes more than President Biden.

And today, Republicans are hosting one convention in Detroit and one convention right here in Grand Rapids.

They will be allocating their delegates to Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, Michigan Democratic voters need to be reminded of the stakes–especially here in West Michigan. Winning Kent County will be crucial to reelecting Joe Biden.
