Friend,
As we commemorate Women's History Month, it’s an honor to reflect on the incredible contributions of strong women throughout the history of North Carolina and renew our commitment to advancing gender equality in our great state.
Throughout our history, women have played pivotal roles in shaping our communities, economy, and culture. From the inspiring efforts of suffragists like Gertrude Weil to Lillian Exum Clement, the first woman elected to the North Carolina General Assembly - our state has been home to trailblazers who have left an enduring impact on our society.
Yet, even with these remarkable achievements, there is still work to be done. As a husband and a father of a daughter, I am dedicated to championing the rights and well-being of women in our state and across the country.
This includes fighting for the protection of reproductive healthcare. With the overturning of Roe v. Wade and the recent Alabama Supreme Court decision, women’s reproductive rights are in constant danger. Women must have the resources and support they need to make their own decisions about their bodies.
In Congress, we must fight to find comprehensive solutions to gender-based challenges, including domestic violence, pay inequity, and educational opportunities.
This Women’s History Month, let us double down on our commitment to honoring the women of the past and making the future brighter for the women of tomorrow.
