Mass shootings have continued to plague our country year after year, and extremists in Congress refuse to take action to protect our communities from weapons of war. We need someone in Washington with a record of national leadership on the issue of gun safety — that’s why I’m so honored to have been named a Gun Sense Candidate by Moms Demand Action, a leading group of activists dedicated to ending gun violence in America.
I’m proud to have written many of California’s nation-leading gun safety laws, including our landmark safe storage law that President Biden has used as a model in his calls for national policy. It shouldn’t be controversial or partisan to keep your gun out of the wrong hands, but I’ve had to stand up to the NRA and other special interests at every turn to prevent even more tragedies. Partnering with Moms Demand and other advocates, we’ve been able to make Californians safer from guns, and I’ll stand with them in Washington to take our proven record of success to the federal level.
