Join Seattle Cruise Control, Climate Action Families, and Extinction Rebellion Seattle on Saturday April 6th to demonstrate against the opening of the Seattle-Alaska cruise season! Help protect the people and planet we love from the harms of cruise ships with a rally at Pier 66 from 10am - 12pm. We’ll have lots of art, chants, fliers, and music. The event will feature a press conference led by young people dressed as sea creature characters - introducing The Walrax! along with Doctor Dolphin and a Worker Whale - who will speak in Dr Seuss-style rhymes about how cruise ships pollute our waters, poison our air, endanger our health, jeopardize our climate, exploit onboard workers, and overwhelm destination communities.

Opportunities to Take Action:

Call on Biden and Congress to Support a Ceasefire! As a climate movement, we have a responsibility to stand up to help end cycles of violence wherever we see them. As we continue to grieve the loss of Israeli civilian lives in the October 7th attack by Hamas, we must unequivocally call for a ceasefire and condemn the Israeli government for withholding water, food, and power, displacing over 1.9 million people, and murdering over 30,000 Palestinians. This moment follows decades of the Israeli government’s colonization of Palestine. Colonization is inherently violent, and it’s one of the same systemic forces that has contributed to the climate injustices facing our world. Climate justice can only be achieved if all people’s human rights are upheld. Please join us and Jewish Voice for Peace in calling on President Biden to demand and facilitate an immediate ceasefire and use / share this toolkit to contact Congress in support of a ceasefire.

If you’re in the DC area, you can also join The People’s State of the Union on March 7th to make it clear to Biden that the majority of the U.S. population demands a permanent ceasefire, no more money to Israel, and the funding of peoples’ and planet’s needs - not war and militarism. More info and sign up here.

Fight the Climate Crisis & Militarism with Veterans For Peace: Join 350.org and Veterans for Peace on Tuesday, March 26th at noon ET to learn more about the military’s role in worsening the climate crisis and how your group can take action, including by partnering with Veterans For Peace to protest an airshow in your community. Register here and spread the word with others in your groups who may be interested!

Make sure you also sign and share our petition to President Biden telling him to divest from wars and invest in climate solutions – opposing militarism, colonialism, and imperialism is critical to solving the climate crisis!

Check out 350’s New Community-Led Renewable Energy Toolkit! The toolkit has details on the 5 phases for building a renewable energy campaign; tips and practical suggestions on everything from finding money to dealing with bureaucracy; and stories and more links to inspire and build your skills! You can download the toolkit here. Are you already building or in the process of developing a renewable energy project in your community? Our global campaign team is looking for groups inside and outside of 350 who are already doing renewable energy projects who would find it beneficial to be connected to others globally for moral support and practical exchanges. If you are or know that group, please encourage them to join our network.

Take Action to Stop the East African Crude Oil Pipeline: Dozens of activists took to the streets of NYC this week as part of the Insure our Future Global Week of Actions. Activists from 350 Brooklyn and other partners joined, accompanied by thousands of people taking parallel actions online. Help keep up the momentum by telling AIG insurance company to stay away from the EACOP carbon bomb - and instead, invest in fair and equitable renewable energy solutions!  ...  Tell AIG: Drop EACOP - 350

Stand in Solidarity with Climate Defenders: Hoang Thi Minh Hong, a renowned Vietnamese climate activist, has been unjustly convicted of false charges of tax evasion and sentenced to 3 years in prison. Send a letter to Secretary of State Antony Blinken, asking him to urge the Vietnamese government to release Hong and all climate defenders. You can also use this share pack to help spread the word through your networks. #FreeHongFreeThemAll
