Hello!
My friends at Reform UK have suggested I contact you to introduce
myself as the Party's candidate for the West Central constituency of
the London Assembly (GLA). As you may know, City Hall elections take
place on 2nd May 2024.
I have lived and worked in the West Central constituency for more
than 20 years. My motivation for standing in this election has purely
to do with returning our great city to its rightful world-leading
status. In the last few years London has lost its way. We need to
return to democratic and accountable politics in London.
For many years, I have enjoyed a headhunting career, advising both
multinational Plcs and London SMEs on their main board leadership and
governance appointments. I have worked with Chief Executives of
numerous businesses to help ensure they have the right leadership
skillsets in place to deliver for London and the UK. When I look at
the leadership of London today I truly despair.
I despair about the soaring crime rates in London:
- there were more than 90 murders in London during 2023, 20 of them
teenagers;
- knife-point robberies in London increased by 36% in 2023;
- last year saw an average of 43 knife-related incidents reported
every day in London!
I despair about the increasingly disjointed nature of our city that
provides obstacles to free-flowing trade:
- ULEZ and the 20mph go-slow speed limit disrupts London's mobility
and trading opportunities, unfairly punishing the SME drivers of local
trades professionals and service providers.
I am standing in support of Reform UK's mayoral candidate, Howard
Cox, who has an impressive track record of championing SMEs and
holding the Government to account as CEO of FairFuelUK. For further
information, please see cox4london
With the above in mind, I
wonder whether you would consider nominating Howard Cox as Reform UK's
mayoral candidate? The rules require Howard to have ten nominating
names from residents of each of London's 33 boroughs. Would you agree
to adding your name to the list? (Nothing else is required as a
nominee.) Please do email me if you are happy to do
so.
Meanwhile, I look forward to staying in touch as the 2nd May GLA
elections loom ever closer.
With kind regards, Nicola.
