Gov. Justice announces 2024 WVDOT Project Map and Core Maintenance Program

Gov. Justice announced ([link removed]) the launch of the 2024 West Virginia Department of Transportation (WVDOT) Core Maintenance Program, marking another significant stride in the state's commitment to infrastructure upkeep and investment.

With over 25,110 potholes already patched along 3,811 miles of roadway, the program aims to continue the momentum of prioritizing core maintenance during the upcoming paving season.

Gov. Justice also unveiled the 2024 WVDOT Project Map ([link removed]) . The map tracks not only core maintenance projects in every community and every county in the Mountain State, but also lists every paving project, bridge project, slide repair project, and Roads to Prosperity project scheduled for the year. Data will be updated every two weeks, so citizens can look at what projects are planned on their road, in their community, and follow them from start to finish.

“Today marks a huge step forward in our commitment to enhancing West Virginia’s infrastructure,” Gov. Justice said. “Through the launch of the 2024 WVDOT Core Maintenance Program and the unveiling of our comprehensive Project Map, we are setting the standard for transparency and efficiency. We have already seen the repair of over 22,500 potholes and the paving of thousands of miles of road, but we’re just getting started. This program is proof of what we can accomplish when we prioritize the needs of our communities. I am incredibly proud of the progress we’ve made, and we will continue to build on this momentum.”

Gov. Justice announced ([link removed]) a significant upgrade to the West Virginia Infrastructure Hub website, a valuable online tool connecting communities with federal funding opportunities.

The newly-launched Investment Dashboard ([link removed]) allows users to explore infrastructure projects across the state that have already received funding. This interactive feature empowers West Virginians to:
* Visually track projects: View funded projects through an interactive map and explore them by category.
* Strategize grant applications: Gain insights into successful projects to tailor grant applications effectively.

“Our West Virginia Infrastructure Hub, now with the new Investment Dashboard, empowers West Virginia communities to strategically pursue federal funding, and see where dollars are being invested, ensuring no corner of West Virginia is left behind as we build a brighter future, together,” Gov. Justice said.

Gov. Justice celebrates West Virginia tourism growth at Hospitality University Conference

Gov. Justice spoke to the West Virginia Hospitality & Travel Association ([link removed]) at their 14th annual Hospitality University Conference ([link removed]) to highlight tourism achievements in West Virginia.

Since Gov. Justice took office, traveler spending is up 30%, tourism growth is 14x higher than the national avg., and the economic impact is more than $7B per year.

First Lady Justice announces newest Friends With Paws therapy dogs at Brooke Middle School and Wheeling Park High School

First Lady Cathy Justice announced ([link removed]) the state’s newest therapy dogs through the Friends With Paws program are officially placed at Brooke Middle School and Wheeling Park High School.

The therapy dogs were announced during assemblies celebrating their arrival.

Clara, a female Golden Retriever, was placed at Brooke Middle School.

Parker, a male Golden Retriever, was placed at Wheeling Park High School.

“I have no doubt that Clara and Parker will be a tremendous addition to both Brooke Middle and Wheeling Park High,” First Lady Cathy Justice said. “We have been able to see firsthand what these therapy dogs are capable of, and the benefits are staggering. Whether it be better reading skills, increased attendance rates, or an overall morale boost for the students and faculty, these dogs are here to help.”

Gov. Justice visits Mullens Middle School to present check for over $15m to Wyoming County Schools

Gov. Justice presented a check of $15,711,654 to Wyoming County Schools on Thursday. The funds will be used for the construction of the new Mullens PK-8 School.

In December, as the Chairman of the West Virginia School Building Authority, Gov. Justice led a vote to approve an award of $111,687,534 for 19 counties for Fiscal Year 2024. This week, the Governor delivered Wyoming County its share of funding, which was a part of the $111 million awarded.
