Ending Sex Trafficking by Combatting Sex Buying: New Research + Symposium

We all know the story.

A woman is sex trafficked. She endures years of unimaginable horror under the thumb of her trafficker. Thankfully, she is eventually identified by law enforcement and assisted in gaining freedom. Her sex trafficker is convicted and put in jail.

It's a success! Right? The survivor is free. The perpetrator is behind bars … But something is missing. Something crucial.

All the men who raped this woman over the past several years are still at large.

And so long as they’re at large … so long as they have cash in their pockets that they’re willing to hand over to someone who will sell them a girl … sex trafficking will

never

end.

NCOSE's new research

and the recent symposium we held seeks to address this problem!

VICTORY! Children’s Device Protection Act PASSES in Utah!

The Children’s Device Protection Act (

SB 104

)

passed through the House UNANIMOUSLY in Utah

! This bill, which was co-authored by

Protect Young Eyes

and NCOSE, would require smartphones and tablets to

automatically turn ON filters that block pornography websites

when activated for or by a minor. We are grateful to Protect Young Eyes for their partnership in pushing forward this critical solution for child protection.

This is the second unanimous vote we have seen on SB 104 in less than two weeks. Last week, we reported that the bill passed unanimously out of the House Judiciary committee—and now, the entire House has voted to pass the Bill. It is encouraging to see so much unity and bipartisan support for child protection!

Now the bill is on its way to the governor’s desk for signing. Change is coming soon!

Reddit is an Extremely Risky Investment; NCOSE Urges Potential Investors to Reject Reddit

The National Center on Sexual Exploitation (NCOSE) called on potential investors of Reddit, which just filed with the Securities Exchange Commission with the intent to go public in March, to outright reject investing in the platform, citing that it is unethical and a liability to do so.

Reddit

2024 DDL

...

NCOSE researchers have found that Reddit is filled with non-consensually shared “leaked” explicit content, as well as deepfake pornography.

In fact, many posts on Reddit even monetize creating sexual “deepfake” images of any person someone submits.
