Tomorrow's Presidential Caucus
==============================

###A Brief History

If you are a registered Republican, hopefully you'll be partaking in tomorrow Presidential Caucus. You should've received a postcard for your caucus location. More information can be found here:[ idahopresidentialcaucus.com]([link removed])

There has been a group of people trying to cause chaos and confusion about this caucus to make our party chair, Dorothy Moon, look bad. Before we get into the history and why we are here, we have one question: When did Dorothy EVER vote for this?

Here's the **Presidential Primary Timeline of Events:**

- 2/22/2023 - HB138 passed out of House State Affairs Cmte (HB138 eliminated the March election date)
- 2/24/2023 – Passed by the House 61-6-3
- 3/6/2023 – Passed out of Senate State Affairs Cmte (despite being revealed as flawed)
- 3/8/2023 – Sent to amending order (HB138 was flawed because it only eliminated the March presidential primary, it did not allow the presidential primary to be held in May.)
- 3/23/2023 – un-amended ( still flawed) HB138 passed by the Senate 23-11-1, sent to Governor.
- 3/17/2023 – S1186 (a trailer bill) introduced and approved to print. This bill would add back the Presidential Primary to the May election, contrary to the wishes of the IDGOP.
- 3/21/2023 – Passed out of Senate State Affairs Cmte, moved to floor.
- 3/23/2023 – Passed by the Senate, 24-10-1.
- 3/24/2023 – Received in the House, referred to State Affairs Cmte
- 3/30/2023 – Heard by State Affairs Cmte. No motion made to move to House floor (10am).
- 3/30/2023 – Governor signed HB138 (the flawed bill) at 5:43pm. Trailer bill to fix this flawed bill had not passed the House State Affairs Cmte at the time of signature. Governor had several days left to consider.
The Legislative session ends with flawed legislation and no fix to this debacle.
- Then…..The House and the Senate engaged in discussions to come back into session in August/September to try and fix the problem, but no legislative fix was agreed upon. The House favored reinstituting the March Presidential Primary, but the Senate refused to consider that.
- Also….The IDGOP Committee approved the caucus as the best option, given no State-run primary. However, the rules put in place at that time specifically stated that should the legislature reinstitute the primary, the caucus plan will be dropped.
- Finally…..This whole mess rests entirely in the hands of the Governor, the Secretary of State (who pushed the flawed bill), and the Legislature, specifically the Senate, which chose to pass the flawed bill and try to correct it with a “trailer” bill (Vs. amending the flawed bill), and then also refused to consider reinstituting the March election, if only for 2024.

**So the question remains: Why is ANYONE blaming Dorothy Moon? Everyone should be asking themselves this.**
