Here are some court updates from today.

• In a win for voters, a federal judge struck down part of Florida's new voter suppression law banning noncitizens from helping organizations register voters. The judge ruled that the provision violates the 14th Amendment.

• The Wisconsin Supreme Court won't order a new congressional map for the 2024 election, declining a request to reopen a previous case challenging the districts. Liberal Justice Janet Protasiewicz did not take part in deciding the case.

• A federal judge tossed out a lawsuit from a right-wing "election integrity group" seeking to gain access to Michigan’s voter roll maintenance records for the purposes of purging allegedly ineligible voters from the rolls.

• Pro-voting groups Alliance for Retired Americans and Voto Latino moved to defend election procedures in Arizona's Maricopa, Yavapai and Coconino counties from a legal attack by Stephen Miller's law group.

Here are some other updates.

• Minnesota Democrats introduced a state-level Voting Rights Act to protect against voter suppression and racial vote dilution following the 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeal's decision to gut enforcement of the federal Voting Rights Act in the state.

• Tennessee Democrats are asking the U.S. Department of Justice to investigate a new state policy that requires people with prior felony convictions to regain their gun rights before their voting rights are restored.

• Indiana's Republican-controlled Legislature passed a bill to impose an additional requirement on first-time voters to prove their residency and make it easier to purge voters from the rolls. Voting advocates argue the bill will burden student voters.

• Ohio Republican officials are once again using their power to undermine the will of the people. But the coalition behind an expansive voting rights amendment is determined to not back down from the fight, Katy Shanahan writes. Read it here.

• Despite Americans becoming increasingly polarized on key issues, a Pew Research Center survey reveals a majority of the public supports pro-voting policies.

Here’s what to expect coming up.

• Trial begins on Monday in a lawsuit filed on behalf of the Brooklyn Branch of the NAACP challenging the state’s ban on handing out food and water to voters waiting in line.

• Trial continues on Monday in a lawsuit challenging Mississippi’s legislative maps. Plaintiffs allege that the state House and Senate maps are racially gerrymandered and violate Section 2 of the Voting Rights Act by diluting the voting strength of Black Mississippians.

• Monday is an order day for the U.S. Supreme Court. We’ll be keeping an eye out for a congressional redistricting case in Arkansas.
