Fellow Republicans,

This week’s headline news was dominated by a Cook County Judge ordering the removal of former President Donald Trump’s name from Illinois’ upcoming primary ballot. You can see a clip of our statement to the media here and also a clip of RNC National Committeeman Richard Porter addressing the miscarriage of justice.

As we’ve stated repeatedly, the Illinois Republican Party believes the people, not activist courts or unelected bureaucrats, should choose who represents them in the White House. This decision to remove former President Trump from the ballot without due process is an affront to democracy and limits the voting rights of Illinois citizens.

The decision by Cook County Judge Tracie Porter, following a legal challenge despite the unanimous ruling by the Illinois State Board of Elections affirming his eligibility, has been appealed. Illinois’ primary election takes place on Tuesday, March 19, 2024.

Early voting is well underway at your local election authority’s office and March 4 will be the first day for early voting at permanent polling places other than the office of the election authority. Please encourage family, friends and colleagues to both vote now in the Primary in person or by mail and take the pledge to Bank Your Vote  in the General election this Fall.

The Illinois Republican Party, in partnership with the Chicago Republican Party and the Northside GOP Club, hosted a highly informative event on Wednesday, February 28th, at The Reveler in Chicago. The event provided clarity and understanding about the crucial role of election judges and poll workers in ensuring fair and transparent elections. Through an interactive session, participants learned about the essential tasks performed by election judges and the significance of their impartiality in upholding the integrity of the electoral process.

The event provided a platform for individuals to have their questions addressed and gain insights into why it is imperative for citizens to serve as Republican election judges. By encouraging friends, family members, neighbors, and colleagues to attend, participants had the opportunity to learn firsthand about the realities of election day and the critical role played by election judges in upholding democracy.

“Fair and transparent elections are the bedrock of our democracy, ensuring that the voice of every citizen is heard and every vote counts,” said Don Tracy, Illinois Republican Party Chairman. “Election judges stand as guardians of this sacred process, ensuring that our democratic principles remain steadfast. By demystifying the election judge/poll worker process, we aimed to ignite a sense of civic duty, inspiring individuals to step forward and serve their communities in this pivotal capacity. Our commitment extends beyond mere participation; we are steadfast in our dedication to championing conservative values, supporting Republican candidates, and advocating for policies that foster the prosperity and well-being of all Illinoisans.”

The Parents Matter Coalition (PMC) was started by a group of Illinois parents concerned with protecting their children. As the state of Illinois continues to encroach upon parents’ right to be involved in their children’s lives – particularly within the context of major life-altering decisions such as abortion or gender modifying therapies and treatments – PMC came together to push back against the government’s interference in parent-child relationships. Together, the coalition introduced a ballot initiative (referred to as the ‘Right to Parent’ initiative) that poses a very simple question: should parental consent be required for any minor child to receive life-altering treatments? If the 500,000 signature minimum is met by April of 2024, this question will appear on the ballot of every voter in the state on Election Day. The Parents Rights Initiative is a signature petition drive to support a Ballot Advisory Question (BAQ) to collect 500,000 signatures to secure a place on the November 2024 General Election Ballot. We will do this when we engage 50,000 volunteer circulators from around the state representing a multitude of organizations all committed to a parent’s right to parent their minor children. Please help us gather the 500,000 signatures needed to get this on the Fall ballot by printing the petition form from the website and asking your family, friends and colleagues to sign the petition.

Thank you for all you do and for supporting the Illinois Republican Party.

Sincerely,

Don Tracy
