We hope you have had a great week! After the always exciting Leap Day, we have officially closed out February. We enjoyed honoring Black History Month across our community and commit to continuing our work year-round to uplift Black voices and lives. To finish out the month, we want to highlight Dr. Ortega again and her inspiring words at an event earlier this month. We hope they resonate with you as much as they do for us.

Today with the start of March, we celebrate the beginning of Women’s History Month, another great opportunity to uplift powerful heroes in history and look ahead to building a more just future for all.

Community Celebration in Trenton

In 1944, Gladys Hedgepeth and Berline Williams fought for their kids to attend a segregated school and won their case to the New Jersey Supreme Court.

On Wednesday, Congressman Kim was honored to join community members in Trenton to celebrate their bravery and impact 80 years after their win.

On Wednesday, Congressman Kim held a webinar honoring the importance of Black History Month as well as the legacy and lives of Sergeant George Ashby and Laura Wooten. Thank you to all of those who joined us for this webinar! We loved getting to talk and learn more about two incredibly impactful figures in New Jersey and American History.

Speaking with the Southern NJ Development Council

Congressman Kim enjoyed speaking with the Southern New Jersey Development Council about progress made through the Inflation Reduction Act, bipartisan infrastructure law, and other impactful legislation, as well as ways to boost economic growth across all industries and global competitiveness in the future.

Congressman Kim Helps Secure Funding for Local Superfund Cleanup

Jersey has 100+ Superfund sites that need our attention. This week, we were excited that the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law that Congressman Kim helped pass will deliver funding to complete a decades-long cleanup in Florence Township!

This is a huge step in prioritizing the health and safety of our environment and communities. We are proud that our infrastructure investments continue to come to New Jersey to propel projects that desperately need our attention.

On Thursday, we held a webinar covering how to make the most of your 2023 tax return, free filing services provided through VITA, credits and rebates secured through the Inflation Reduction Act, and renewable energy and home energy efficiency tax credits.

Buffalo Soldiers Congressional Gold Medal Act of 2023

Just over one year ago, Congressman Kim and Congresswoman Marilyn Strickland introduced legislation to deliver Buffalo Soldier regiments long-overdue recognition for their service.

During Black History Month, we honored their bravery and sacrifices for our nation and committed to continuing our work to deliver them the Congressional Gold Medal.

Happy Birthday Peace Corps!

The Peace Corps turns 63 today! This week, we were happy to send a letter of appreciation to the 10 incredible Volunteers currently serving around the world from New Jersey’s 3rd Congressional District. Thank you and thank you to all Volunteers over the Peace Corps’ 63 years for your impact and service.

Flashback Friday: Military Service Academy Info Day

Last weekend we were incredibly excited by a huge turnout of students and their families at our annual Military Service Academy Info Day! Our office and representatives from each academy were able to speak in-depth about the nomination process and life at each of the academies. Congressman Kim is proud to nominate such incredible and brave students to our prestigious U.S. service academies. Learn more about the application process on our website!
