Ronna Gone, Judicial Reform, Early Voting Begins, Populism Explained DEFENDING KANSAS SAVING AMERICA DONATE VOLUNTEER The Friday File A Weekly Publication Kansas Judicial Reform Necessary It is far past time to consider a complete overhaul of the Kansas State Supreme Court judicial selection process. Currently, vacancies are filled using a “merit-based” process Kansans voted to add to the state constitution in 1958. A nine-member panel, dominated by liberal progressive attorneys with the Kansas Bar, nominates three candidates for Supreme Court justices, and the governor appoints one of those three to the Supreme Court. After a new justice serves one year on the court, he or she must stand for a retention vote in the next general election to remain in the position. If retained, which always happens, the justice then serves a six-year term. Kansans deserve an opportunity to vote on either instituting what some call the “federal model,” modifying the election retention process, or staying with the current system. The current merit-based system was a response to the triple play scandal, where, after defeat in the 1956 election and the resignation of a Supreme Court justice, incumbent Governor Fred Hall resigned from his post and had his former Lt. Gov. appoint him as the replacement justice. While legal at the time, the unethical sequence of events led to the resolution of this amendment. While the exact details of the contemplated resolutions and amendments need to be worked out, this conversation should begin now and be proposed next January, 2025 in the new Kansas Legislative session. The Kansas Senate must be the gatekeeper of those who ascend to the bench, and all Kansas Supreme Court and Kansas Court of Appeals judges should also be reconfirmed by the Kansas Senate every six years. This method gives the electorate a direct voice in the process through their elected Senator vs. the backroom dealing process our governor now employs to appoint liberal progressives to a functional lifetime appointment, which is unacceptable. Transparency must always be paramount in everything, but especially in the justice system. Now is the time to make a change that is truly fair and beneficial to all Kansans. “Judicial reform is one of the most pressing issues the Kansas legal community is facing. For far too long, judicial nominees for our Supreme Court have been chosen by a small group of well connected lawyers who work to ensure that the third branch of government does not face accountability to the people of Kansas,” said Chris McGowne, Attorney at Law and KSGOP General Counsel. “We must find a way to ensure future nominees are confirmed by representatives of the people, not chosen by backroom deals made in Topeka." Sharice Davids Votes Against Protecting Your Family in Mayorkas Impeachment Sharice Davids, KS CD-3, twice last week voted no on the impeachment of failed Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. Leading up to and following the first impeachment vote, House Speaker Mike Johnson declined to vote on a bill sent by the U.S. Senate for military aid to Ukraine, citing the absence of provisions for U.S. border security. The political maneuvering forced a bright light on the importance of the U.S./Mexico border and drew criticism from Democratic representative Davids, who accused politicians of playing games. With Republicans eyeing the upcoming elections, the focus on border issues will intensify. A decrease in illegal crossings this January has been noted due to Texas Governor Abbott blocking the border in that state with the help of many other states from across the Union. Assistance of the Kansas National Guard did not come from Kansas Governor Laura Kelly who ignored the majority of Kansans, silently taking no action whatsoever. The impeachment, based on allegations of incompetence, passed narrowly. Senate support for conviction remains uncertain but Kansans encourage their U.S. Senators to support the impeachment of Mayorkas. Border security consistently ranks high on the overall concerns of Kansans and Americans. U.S. Border Security must be a priority shown by our elected officials to maintain the support of Kansas Republicans. In Kansas' 3rd Congressional District, immigration and border security are of critical importance and related issues resonate across political divides. As the campaign unfolds, the border debate will intersect with broader political narratives, shaping the electoral landscape in Kansas CD-3 and beyond. Republicans in CD-3 are encouraged to look into their Sharice Davids voting record to discover for themselves that she is our very own Nancy Pelosi - right here in Kansas. Ronna McDaniel Resigns as RNC Chair Below are the exact emails I received early on Monday from Ronna McDaniel, Republican National Committee Chair, and Drew McKissick, Republian National Committee Co-Chair. Members of the 168 – I had the privilege of being elected to the RNC a decade ago this month – first as Michigan’s National Committeewoman, then as Michigan Chair, and since then as RNC Chair. The RNC truly is a family, and I want to thank you for the trust you put in me to lead it. I am beyond grateful for the close friendships I have made with so many of you who have sustained me during challenging times. All of you play a critical role in your states and territories, and in our country, and I cannot thank you enough for your hard work and unwavering commitment to electing Republicans and growing our Party. It has been the honor of my life to serve as RNC Chair for the last seven years. Some of my proudest accomplishments include firing Nancy Pelosi, winning the popular vote in 2022, creating an Election Integrity Department, building the committee’s first small dollar grassroots donor program, strengthening our state parties through our Growing Republican Organizations to Win program, expanding the Party through minority outreach at our community centers, and launching Bank Your Vote to get Republicans to commit to voting early. I have decided to step aside at our Spring Training on March 8 in Houston to allow our nominee to select a Chair of their choosing. The national party historically undergoes some form of change when a presumptive nominee emerges, and my intention has always been to honor that tradition. I remain committed to winning back the White House and electing Republicans up and down the ballot in November. I want to thank my husband Patrick, our children Abigail and Nash, you – the members of the 168 who elected me four times, President Trump for giving me the opportunity to lead our Party, as well as the RNC staff and investors who have supported me and our mission over the years. We must remain united if we are to put our nominee in the best position to win. The future of our country depends on it. Thank you again for everything you have done for the Republican Party, and I look forward to seeing you all in Houston. Ronna Drew McKissick Resigns as RNC CO-Chair Dear RNC Friends, Thanks so much for all that you do and the personal sacrifices that you make for our Party every day and at every level. You make our Party's mission possible, and you are critical to our future success. Since I was in college and a member of College Republicans, I looked up to then RNC Chairman Lee Atwater and admired his ability to build a successful political organization and win campaigns. I knew that working in our Party and making sure that it could succeed was something that I wanted to do. I'm honored to have had the privilege to serve as your Co-Chair for this past year, as well as to have worked with so many of you to help make our party successful. It's what drives me. And of course being willing to put self aside for the sake of building a team and focusing on winning is a big part of being successful. With that in mind, I'm submitting to you my resignation as Co-Chair, effective upon the election of my successor at the upcoming Spring Meeting in Houston. I look forward to working with the RNC and President Trump's team to make sure that we WIN this November by taking back the White House, the Senate and maintaining our majority in the House of Representatives. My pledge is to do anything that I can to work together and help make that a reality. As always, be sure to reach out and let me know anytime that I can be a help to you in any way. Thanks again for all that you do for our Party! Sincerely, Drew McKissick JCRP to Host “A Grand Ol’ Party” with Headliner and Rock’n Roll Legend Ted Nugent It's the 170th anniversary of the GOP, and we are celebrating with an American legend and a Kansas legend! CLICK HERE Send a strong and bold message to ultra-liberal Kansas Governor Laura Kelly to support Texas’ efforts to secure our southern border. Kansas should be supporting the state of Texas’ efforts to secure our southern border since Joe Biden & Company have abdicated their constitutional responsibility. There is nothing controversial about securing and defending our border, but Laura Kelly continues doddering instead of engaging as most Kansans’ would prefer. Every State is a Border State Laura Kelly claims to be “middle of the road,” but that statement doesn't apply to “middle of the border”. Governor Kelly’s silence on this issue is both stunning and shameful. So why is ultra-liberal Kansas Governor Kelly so quiet? That's an excellent question. Join the 1776 Club CLICK HERE Inflation Soars, Biden Reels, America Puts it on the Credit Card A majority of Americans and Kansans are living paycheck to paycheck due to Biden’s failed economic policies. We cannot withstand a second term of skyrocketing grocery costs, higher rents, and unaffordable mortgages and car loans. Here are just a few categories directly impacting your personal finances and financial security. January’s Consumer Price Index rose 3.1% compared to last year. Auto insurance is up 20.6% Household repairs are up 18.2% Sporting events are up 13.5% Transportation services are up 9.5% Nonprescription drugs are up 9.2% Baby food is up 8.7% Garbage collection is up 6.4% Shelter is up 6.0% Eating out is up 5.1% Overall, prices have risen by 17.9% since Biden took office in January 2021. Americans’ finances are being decimated. Americans are suffering from the lasting effects of Biden’s colossally bad economic “policy” which created the historic inflation we are enduring now, with many struggling to pay their debts, save for retirement, or even afford rent. Americans increasingly borrow to cover daily expenses, finding their regular income is no longer enough to make ends meet. Credit card debt balances exceeded $1.13 billion in January 2024, an all-time high. Credit card delinquencies have surpassed pre-pandemic levels for the first time. The hangover from this insane spending spree is going to be a huge headache and it will take a lot of time and doctoring to make a full recovery. Joe Biden is nothing but bad for America. And your pocketbook. In Case You Forgot Polling, 78% of Americans think Biden is too old (and feeble) to serve as Commander in Chief. This is a weekly reminder that Joe Biden, President of the United States, and his son, Hunter Biden, are liars and kingpins in a crime syndicate ring. The Biden family has betrayed America, committing the crime of treason. They must be held accountable. Impeach Biden Now #NeverForget The handling of the Afghanistan withdrawal under Joe Biden was widely criticized for its chaotic execution, erasing decades of women rights progress, leaving a global feeling of disillusionment and raising significant concerns about the disastrous impact on regional stability and global security. Joe Biden and all Democrats have proven beyond any doubt they have no business running America.
