Dear Friend,

The Tenant Opportunity to Purchase Act, or TOPA, gives tenants in buildings up for sale the first opportunity to buy their building. TOPA presents DC residents with a way to maintain affordability, prevent displacement, and become owners of their own homes. But, right now developers and landlords are lobbying the DC Council to exempt newer buildings and buildings with affordability covenants from TOPA. If successful, this effort could strip TOPA rights from approximately 100,000 tenants.

At our Citywide TOPA Townhall on February 28th, we all sent emails to CM Robert White to let him and the Housing Committee know how important TOPA is to us. Send your email now!
