** Friend,
------------------------------------------------------------
We recently learned of the tragic death of Nex Benedict (he/they), a sixteen-year-old nonbinary young person whose life was cut short. We have felt (and are still feeling) grief, outrage, and urgency as we contend with the very serious challenges transgender and nonbinary young people face daily.
It has become even more crucial for us to come together, to support one another, and to advocate tirelessly for a world where every person is safe to be themselves. We at The Trevor Project are deeply committed to this mission, and we are profoundly grateful for your unwavering support and dedication to LGBTQ+ young people.
To honor Nex’s life and memory, The Trevor Project emphasizes the importance of Zero Discrimination Day on March 1 for all people, especially LGBTQ+ and trans and nonbinary young people who deserve to feel safe wherever they live.
Nex's passing reminds us of the urgent need to combat discrimination and prejudice wherever it exists. It underscores the importance of our work, not just in crisis intervention ([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort) but also in education ([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort) , advocacy ([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort) , and fostering inclusive communities
([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort) .
As allies of LGBTQ+ young people, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for transgender and nonbinary young people is paramount, and serving as a steadfast ally ([link removed](i.e.e-newsletter)&utm_source=emailsegment-wholefile1&utm_campaign=generaleffort) is more than just affirming — it can be life-saving.
Thank you for being a part of our community and for your ongoing support. Together, we can make a difference.
