This week in D.C....   Washington, D.C. - This week, I was glad to meet folks from Parkland Health in Dallas to discuss their health care priorities and how Congress can help them provide the best care for their patients. I’m working to cut burdensome red tape and get the government out of the way of health care providers. It was an honor to preside over the House floor on Wednesday during debate on legislation concerning small business and energy. This week, my bipartisan bill to improve the reporting process for fraudulent pandemic loans, H.R. 5426, was brought up for a vote on the House floor. I'm pleased to share that the House passed my bill unanimously and it will now be sent to the Senate for consideration. You can watch my remarks on the House floor by clicking here or on the photo below. Yesterday, I joined Speaker Johnson and House Republican Leadership for a press conference highlighting President Joe Biden's disastrous border policies and the damage he's done to our country. I will always work to hold this administration accountable to the American people. Later, I met with North Texans from the National Association of Government Guaranteed Lenders to discuss issues facing their industry, particularly from the Small Business Administration (SBA). As a leader on the House Committee on Small Business, I’m working to restore integrity to SBA lending programs and protect our taxpayer dollars. Texas-24 Work of the Week This week, the House unanimously passed my bill to make it easier to report cases of pandemic loan fraud, which has already cost the taxpayers over $200 million. I’m grateful my bill to improve the process for reporting fraudulent pandemic loans was passed unanimously. This is an important part of our oversight efforts and will help identify and prosecute fraudsters who took advantage of a pandemic. Texas-24 Hometown Hero This week’s Texas-24 Hometown Hero is Melissa Ice, founder of The Net and Worthy Co. Melissa helps survivors of human trafficking in Fort Worth, providing care and recovery through The Net and giving them employment through Worthy Co. after they’ve graduated from their program. Thank you, Melissa, for the important work you’re doing to educate our communities about the horrors of human trafficking and your selflessness in helping survivors! Congressional Art Competition I’m honored to announce that I was selected to co-chair the 2024 Congressional Art Competition! This is an amazing opportunity for artists to showcase their talents and one of our most successful student programs! I’m looking forward to seeing this year's artwork. The deadline to submit your artwork is April 15th. You can learn more by clicking here or on the photo below. Rep. Van Duyne in the News Read Irving Journal's Article On Rep.
