21 years ago today, three agencies were established as a racist and Islamophobic response to 9/11 that have done irreparable damage to immigrant families and children over the last two decades. Those agencies are the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), and Customs and Border Protection (CBP).
The purpose of these agencies has always been to instill fear in our communities by targeting, detaining, abusing, and deporting immigrants. ICE and CBP receive over $25 Billion each year to carry out their racial profiling and xenophobia in communities across the country. Now, Congress is including billions MORE in additional funding for these agencies in the federal budget! Will you join me and add your name to our petition to demand Congress reject more funds for ICE and CBP this year?

Anyone over the age of 21 has lived in a world without these dangerous, racist agencies, and we’re fighting every day to win that world again. Every year that ICE and CBP continue to exist, our immigrant communities face trauma and the risk of family separation. We MUST abolish ICE and CBP, and a step towards that is ensuring they don’t get more money to carry out their abuse.
