Gunderson, who has campaigned as a Pro-Trump Republican, was caught lying. Again. On October 9, 2023, Gunderson was asked a simple question, and not only did he say he would support Nikki Haley, but he also said this:

QUESTION: "For President, if you get one choice for voting right now, who would your candidate be for President?"

• On Trump: Gunderson has proudly said he's a Pro-Trump Republican on mailers, but actually went on the record supporting Never Trumper Nikki Haley in private.
• On the Border: Gunderson doesn't believe California has a border issue or that immigrants or cartels use California's border.
• On Abortion: Gunderson has repeatedly campaigned on being pro-abortion, even running a television ad about it.
• On Taxes: Gunderson campaigned on supporting "smart taxes, effective taxes."
• On Ideology: Gunderson said he would be a Joe Manchin Republican in Congress.
