In response to the global coronavirus pandemic, Ecuadorian indigenous and human rights organizations sent an urgent letter calling on their government to implement multiple protective measures to guarantee their rights, safety, and equal access to public services during this health emergency.
Indigenous organizations are responding independently to this crisis to protect their communities, but they can't do it alone.
As of today, Ecuador has recorded 1,595 cases and 36 deaths, and several more cases have been confirmed in frontier towns in the Amazon. Ecuador is currently the second most affected nation in Latin America, preceded only by Brazil.
Demand that the government immediately reply to this letter and follow through with concrete action!
