Game and Fish releases updated draft of Wyoming Elk Feedgrounds Management Plan following public comment period

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department has released its final draft of the Wyoming Elk Feedgrounds Management Plan with the public and will present it before the Wyoming Game and Fish Commission at its meeting in Pinedale March 12-13 for its approval. *The draft plan is the culmination of one of the department?s most involved public collaborative efforts. Shed antler and horn hunting season closed for western, southern Wyoming

Shed antler

Many sections of public lands in western and southern Wyoming closed for shed antler and horn hunting on Jan. 1. The annual closure for sections of public land, state land and Wyoming Game and Fish Commission wildlife habitat management areas is meant to protect wintering big game. Prescribed fire to benefit waterfowl habitat on Ocean Lake WHMA

Prescribed burn fire

The Wyoming Game and Fish Department, in cooperation with the Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Reclamation, will perform a prescribed burn on Ponds 1 and 2 at Ocean Lake Wildlife Habitat Management Area (WHMA). *The prescribed burn is scheduled for sometime between late February through March depending on weather conditions. Funding available for Wyoming sage grouse conservation

Sage grouse

Funding is available to support projects benefiting sage grouse and their habitats. The Wyoming Game and Fish Commission expects to allocate $548,000 to support eight local Sage Grouse Working Groups to fund projects and address the primary threats to sage grouse as identified in their local conservation plans. *Groups can submit project proposals?online.
