Dear Friend, |
|
If I were President of the United States when a Norfolk Southern
train carrying hazardous chemicals derailed in East Palestine, Ohio,
here's what would have happened: |
|
Norfolk Southern would have come
in here and bought this whole town, and moved this whole town to
another place. They would have rebuilt the businesses and homes,
committing the next 50 years to meticulously cleaning every molecule
of dioxin from this area. |
|
As for the government officials who deceived the public,
intentionally searching for pollution where they knew it didn't exist
to manipulate the residents of this town, my administration would have
launched investigations through the Department of Justice. |
|
Every individual involved, whether corporate executives or
regulatory officials, would be held accountable, both civilly and
criminally. |
|
No one in this town ever asked for dioxin in their yards. A single
molecule of dioxin can lead to cancer, severe birth defects, and
fertility issues in both women and men. |
|
If the executives of Norfolk Southern want dioxin in their yards,
they should put it there themselves. But every molecule they put in
East Palestine, they must take responsibility for its cleanup and
restore the community. |
|
As President of the United States, I will ensure that this
happens. |
