This cannot continue.

Dear friend,

Earlier this month marked a somber anniversary for all of us at Stand With Parkland. Six years ago, our community was shattered by an unimaginable act of violence.

Yet even as we reflect on our own pain and loss, we are confronted with another senseless act of firearm violence in Kansas City. The recent incident at the Kansas City Chiefs’ Super Bowl parade has left one person dead and 22 others injured, including children as young as six years old.

What happened in Kansas City this month underscores the critical need for enhanced mental health screenings and responsible firearm ownership.

Friend, it is imperative that we advocate for comprehensive mental health screenings, early intervention programs, and support services for at-risk youth. Additionally, we must promote responsible firearm ownership practices, including age qualifications for purchases, secure storage, and education on the safe handling of firearms.

Together, we can and must create a brighter future free of firearm violence.

Every day, we are fighting to create meaningful change and take concrete steps to protect our children and communities. Will you help support our mission?

Our hearts ache for the victims, their families, and the entire Kansas City community as they grapple with this devastating event.

Thank you.
