Hi, it’s Michigan Lt. Governor Garlin Gilchrist–

In honor of Black History Month, the DLGA has set a goal of raising $5,000 before the end of the month to go towards promoting a more diverse and representative slate of candidates.

Here’s why hitting our $5K goal before tonight's midnight deadline is so critical:

• State governments have become the biggest battleground for policies surrounding some of the most pressing issues for Black communities, including the right to vote, reproductive freedom, and gun reform.
• Democratic lt. governors are the most diverse group of statewide electeds in the country — and it shows in the work we do. We’re bringing the voices of people of color, tribes, and young adults to the forefront of the Democratic Party.
• Republicans have been pouring money into lt. governor races due to the impact they have on the most pressing issues facing our country. They see the lieutenant governor position as an effective way to implement their extremist agendas — and we can’t concede the race for resources.

In 2024 we have the opportunity to flip five major seats from red to blue, prevent Republicans from installing more extremists in positions of power, and elect diverse leaders across our country who will center the voices and experiences of our Black and Brown communities in their work. I’m proud to be in this fight with the DLGA, but we can’t do it alone. Can I count on you to chip in $10 before tonight's midnight deadline so we can meet our Black History Month goal?
