Fight for $15

John -- I've had enough. I REFUSE to risk my life and my health for McDonald's, a company that always puts profits ahead of me.
So today I went on strike.
McDonald's is the most profitable restaurant chain in the world, yet they STILL refuse to protect workers making $9/hr like me as we face the worst public health crisis in our lifetimes.
Stand with me and DEMAND that McDonald's change course and protect ALL workers. >> [link removed]
While other restaurants like Olive Garden gave their employees paid sick leave over two weeks ago, McDonald's actually LOBBIED the Trump Administration to block paid sick leave legislation.
I walked off the job here in Durham, NC today alongside other fast-food workers, grocery store workers, and other folks making far less than we're worth -- the people who are keeping our community fed.
Our demands are simple:
- Any worker who wears the McDonald's uniform, must be allowed to refuse to work over safety concerns, without termination or penalty
- McDonald's must provide all non-working Crew Members with Covid-19 Pandemic Pay for the next 60 days and working Crew Members who continue to serve the public during this pandemic with Covid-19 Hazard Pay of at least an additional $3 an hour
- McDonald's must cover the cost of Covid-19 testing and treatment for all affected workers
- McDonald's must adhere to the strictest safety standards put forward by the CDC and local health officials, including social distancing, and supply all of us with the necessary Personal Protective Equipment.
McDonald's could change all of this today if they wanted. Clearly they don't want to, so we have to MAKE them. DEMAND that McDonald's protect ALL workers. >> [link removed]
Thank you for standing with me.
In Solidarity,
Rita Blalock
