Friends,
I wanted to share with you a few updates about Doug's campaign and where we are heading into an important end of quarter deadline. But first, as we are all navigating the spread of the coronavirus, please stay safe. Practice social distancing. It works. Listen to the experts at the CDC and elsewhere. No matter what bills are passed in Washington or Montgomery or anywhere, you can do your part to stop this virus and save lives.
Some things are more important than any political campaign, and this is one of them. We are all in this together.
Doug's finally back home in Alabama after negotiating the passage of the Coronavirus stimulus package. The Senate bill has some really important provisions that are going to help Americans weather this storm, but there's still a lot to do.
On the campaign side, our team is doing its part to keep people safe. We are entirely working remotely and following expert guidance on avoiding mass gatherings. As you can imagine, on campaigns where shaking hands and parades and rallies are the norm, it's forced us to rethink how we can best help Senator Jones win while prioritizing everyone's safety. We are fully "switching" our campaign to digital for the forseeable future (think Zoom virtual hangouts, person to person texting and social media, and, yes, more emails), and we're going to have some exciting updates in the next few days about how you can help spread the word while staying safe.
Our opponents' runoff has been delayed from this coming Tuesday to July 14th. It is absolutely the right thing to do to keep voters and poll workers from Coronavirus exposure. Tommy Tuberville and Jeff Sessions are locked in a close race, and it is getting very divisive. They now have several more weeks to step up their attacks, including more and more attacks on Doug.
Finally, we are moving quickly toward our end of quarter deadline and could really use your help to make sure we can take on whoever wins out of Sessions or Tuberville. Mitch McConnell is making Doug his top target and he will spend whatever it takes. We know we have a great plan and a great team to fight back, but we need your help.
