Friend,
I grew up on the 'other side of the tracks' in a rural Midwest railroad community. I am one of seven children in a lower middle class family. My father, although an alcoholic, worked two jobs to keep us afloat. My mother was an orphan and worked as a union nurse.
From an early age, my family and community taught me resilience, tenacity, and grit - to work hard and play hard.
I earned four degrees, became a family doctor, and began serving patients from communities like mine: rural, underprivileged, marginalized, the people often left behind.
I have served as a diplomat overseas for a decade, and now I am a public health medical director. Serving others has been my vocation. Now, I want to lead the fight for universal healthcare and many other federal issues. So, today, I'm on the journey to Congress.
Friend, I'll be frank — my Republican opponent is corporate-funded. We have more grassroots small-amount donors than anyone in the field, but our challenge is steep.
I fundamentally believe in campaign finance reform, and to close February strong, my campaign needs a people-powered boost.
If you believe in our mission, I would greatly appreciate your support.
Together, we can change the tide for rural Democrats like me, up and down the ballot. My district is a battleground in a battleground state. Your contributions — no matter the amount — will make a big difference.
I appreciate your consideration.
