John,
It’s national news: Media outlets across the country are reporting on Michigan’s “uncommitted” vote.
This week, over 100,000 Michiganders made their voices heard at the ballot box, using our democratic process to ask President Biden to change course in order to better represent the majority of Democrats who want a ceasefire. If he doesn't, we are at a serious risk that he will be unelectable in November against the forever impeached and indicted criminal, Donald Trump.
Multiple cities in my district and across the country have passed ceasefire resolutions, and according to a new poll that just came out, two-thirds of U.S. voters support a permanent ceasefire—including 77% of Democrats. It's beyond time for President Biden to listen to his base who helped get him elected in 2020.
I ran for office because I wanted to help my neighbors, and my neighbors across demographic lines are demanding our government invest in life and in everyday working people, not death and destruction. I’m listening and lifting up their voices. I will always courageously take strong stances that protect our communities and our democracy.
Will you chip into my campaign today to keep pushing for a government that invests in people, not war or defense contractors?
I recently spoke with more than 200 unions that have formed the National Labor Network for Ceasefire. Representing more than half of the U.S. unionized workforce, they’re advocating for an end to devastation in Gaza and for real investments in our communities.
Instead of voting with the majority of my colleagues in Congress to spend nearly a trillion U.S. taxpayer dollars on this year’s military budget, I’m pushing to end poverty and to invest in housing, healthcare, and clean water.
That’s why I recently introduced two bills: one that would ban members of Congress from profiting off of war, and another that would provide direct cash assistance to young people experiencing homelessness.
The Youth Homelessness Guaranteed Income Pilot Program Act came directly from young people with lived experience, who helped craft the bill to ensure that it meets the real needs of our unhoused neighbors.
Everyone deserves dignity. Everyone has value, no matter their faith, ethnicity, or income.
Together, we’re building a government that reflects that truth.
Can you chip in today to support an inclusive democracy that upholds equity and human rights for all people?
