John,
For generations, Black women have been at the very forefront of social change in America, yet our country still has a long way to go when it comes to equal representation in politics.
Today is the last day of Black History Month, but I am keenly aware all year long of the need for more Black women in elected office. We cannot have representation without a government that reflects the people it serves.
That's why I'm proud to highlight the EMILYs List-endorsed Black women running for the House and Senate this cycle. I'm confident that each and every one of these women can not only hold and flip seats, but also ensure that we have better representation in Congress — because when we elect Black women, we build a better future for everyone.
Women of color face barriers to running for office that others do not — particularly when it comes to fundraising. In 2018, Black women running for office raised 55% less than white women. That's where the EMILYs List community comes in.
EMILYs List is devoted to raising the critical early funds needed to help Democratic pro-choice women launch, run, and WIN races up and down the ballot and across the country. As a member of this millions-strong community, will you donate now to directly support Black women candidates running in tough House and Senate races this cycle?
