The national debate over gun violence, race and immigration continued this week after President Donald Trump's controversial visit to Dayton, Ohio, and El Paso, Texas -- the site of two mass shootings last week. Trump drew criticism for sparring with local Democrats during his visit to the cities Wednesday, and Trump's reaction also spilled onto the 2020 campaign trail.
Meanwhile, lawmakers in Congress focused on the issue of gun violence in the wake of the shootings, with Democrats pressing Senate Republicans to consider gun control legislation.
It was a busy week in politics. David Brooks of the New York Times and Jonathan Capehart of the Washington Post are on hand to break it all down.
