The Senate's GOP leader, Mitch McConnell, announced yesterday that he will be stepping down from his leadership position after the upcoming election. We say: Goodbye, good riddance, and get out.

Harsh? Nah. This is a man who saw his role in the Senate as a way to execute and use power, not serve the people. Every action he took with judges was in service of his extreme political ideology and not what was best for our country.

He single-handedly held a Supreme Court seat unfilled because he wanted to deny President Obama the chance to fill it. When the same situation arose four years later he gleefully let Donald Trump fill a vacant seat, showing that all his arguments and reasoning just excuses. 

With Trump as President this man turned the Senate's role to "advise and consent" presidential nominees into a subway turnstile, flooding the judicial branch with unqualified political lackeys, even when nonpartisan groups highlighted how these nominees had no experience or training for federal judgeships. 

We can't think of a better gift for dear old Mitch than to ensure his beloved GOP is still in the Senate minority under a 2nd term for President Biden and newly enshrined Democratic House of Representatives.
