The right-wing attacks on reproductive freedom are now impacting families’ ability to have children through in vitro fertilization (IVF) treatments.
After the Alabama Supreme Court set a dangerous precedent by ruling that frozen embryos are children in the eyes of state law, multiple clinics pressed pause on IVF treatment across the state. The future of IVF and other assisted reproductive technologies across the country are now in peril along with abortion and contraception.
Some national Republican leaders claimed this was a step too far and expressed support for IVF, but when they had the chance to pass a bill to fully shield IVF from these attacks last night in the U.S. Senate, the GOP blocked it.
It further goes to show just how critical it is that we have leaders like Rob at the state level fighting back against these extreme attacks on reproductive freedom and bodily autonomy.
